We probably won't be adding projectM support directly into VDMX for a number of reasons however a simple cocoa app that can publish its video output via Syphon seemed to us like something that lot of people might enjoy using- so we're happy to introduce ProjectMilkSyphon, a free projectM-based visualizer that can be used with any app that supports Syphon. Recently we were feeling nostalgic, and upon realizing that there wasn't a good way to pipe these visuals into more general-purpose VJ apps like VMDX, we decided to build something that did. Fortunately, this was pretty easy- in large part because we were able to make use of a nice open-source library called " projectM", which is an OpenGL-based re-implementation of the class MilkDrop engine. MilkDrop can also be driven by a live audio feed (microphone or line-in). As you listen your music in Winamp, MilkDrop takes you flying through the actual soundwaves youre hearing, and uses beat detection to trigger myriad psychedelic effects, creating a rich visual journey through sound. I am not sure if thats what you want, but have a look here, too. This only works if you have incdda.dll, the standard Audio CD/Line-In plugin, installed. MilkDrop is a music visualizer - a 'plug-in' to the Winamp music player. With the free milkdrop plugin shipping with winamp, you can use the linein function to output audio back into the visualisation again through winamp.
In theory, that should work with any odd output plugin I havent tried it, though.

Its tricky, especially depending upon the graphics hardware and configuration. Hard to know whether its an issue with Magic or with Milkdrop or with Spout itself.
